The problem

A pilgrimage city with no local guide.

Nashik is one of India's largest pilgrimage cities. Every twelve years it hosts Kumbh, one of the largest gatherings on earth.

Most visitors arrive without a reliable local guide. Tourism apps built for big metros skip cities like Nashik, so pilgrims and travellers find their way by word of mouth.

The temples, ghats and small places worth knowing sit in lanes that a map app shows as grey lines. Locals know them because someone once told them. Visitors have no one to ask.

What we built

Discover, plan and travel in your own language.

Three screens carry most of a visit. Each one answers a problem a visitor to Nashik has.

How we approached it

We grew up in Nashik. We have been that crowd.

  1. Notice

At every Kumbh, someone in the crowd stands still, phone in hand, lost. We started by talking to pilgrims at the ghats, shopkeepers and lifelong residents.

  2. Focus

We stopped trying to list everything and curated instead. The audience is deliberate: pilgrims with a few free hours, and travellers here for Kumbh or a weekend.

  3. Craft

Places are vetted by Nashik locals, with temple timings, rituals and routes planned for pilgrims.

  4. Ship and tend

Trinetra is live as a first version. We are still adding places and still talking to people.

“A short, honest list beats an exhaustive one nobody trusts.”

After launch

What changed after launch.

  • What we saw

Early users wanted more places to choose from.

    What we changed

We keep adding places, each one checked by people from Nashik.

Outcomes

Where Trinetra stands today.

Trinetra launched as a locally built guide to Nashik's temples, ghats and hidden corners.

  • “It replaces multiple apps — maps, translators, and bus schedules — with one dedicated tool.”

Bandi R. · Google Play review
  • “Live location sharing, 23+ languages support, and easy route suggestions make it very convenient. The UI is simple, and it feels focused on real pilgrim needs, not extra bloat.”
