What it is
Cygnus, the swan, is the constellation that the studio is named after. On How we work, each of our four steps sits at one of its stars, and the camera flies to the next star as you scroll.
Here the same flight runs on its own: Albireo, η Cygni, Sadr, Deneb, then back. Change the speed, the field of view and the lines, and the flight changes as you watch.
How it's made
- Four stops on one curve · The camera follows one smooth curve through Albireo, η Cygni, Sadr and Deneb. It eases into each star and holds there for a moment before it moves on.
- Lines that follow the camera · Each line of the swan draws as the camera passes along it, and each star brightens when the camera reaches it. Star names sit beside the stars on wide screens.
- Scroll on the page, a clock in the Lab · On How we work, your scroll moves the camera. Here a clock moves it, from Albireo to Deneb and back, so the loop never cuts.
- One sky, three quality tiers · Full and Lite fly the camera live. Static shows one still frame of the sky, drawn again each time you change a control.
What we learned
One smooth curve through all four stars read as calmer than four separate moves, and the loop never cuts.
If motion bothers you
With reduced motion turned on, the sky stays still and the controls change the still image. Every control works with a keyboard, and Pause motion stops the flight at any time.
